Commissions
Legend
Paintings can be commissioned to honor a person, event, story
or place. Please contact the artist. These collaborative creative
projects are based on discussions and agreements between client and
artist about the values and goals for the project; in stage
one the artist provides project sketches which the client can
accept or decline. Pamela
Yates is not accepting new commissions at this time.
Giclee Reproductions
A sample of titles and prices are provided
below. Read "About
Archival Fine Art
Giclees." Purchasing a giclee is a great alternative
when the
original painting has already been sold
and an affordable
way to enlarge a collection of archival quality artwork. Giclees are usually available on either
paper or canvas
support (unwrapped, regular or
gallery-wrap). Each limited edition giclee is signed and
embossed by the artist and a Certificate of Artist Authenticity
provides information about the giclee including archival material
specifications
and the fine art printer who produced your giclee. A giclee can be
embellished by the artist with paint or medium, ask about
embellishment.

About
Archival Fine Art Giclees
"2009
Limited Edition giclees
artwork by artist Pamela Yates will be individually
hand-embossed
with a unique mark created from a wood
relief hand-carved by the
artist. And as always each limited edition
giclee will be individually numbered and
signed by the
artist."
Purchasing a giclee is a great option when the
original painting has already been sold and an affordable way
to enlarge a collection of museum quality artwork. Limited edition
giclees of
my artwork are produced by professional fine art printers and
purchasers are given details
about the archival
quality of materials. I am personally involved in all
aspects beginning with quality of support,
coatings, quality control,
color
matching through to proofing at each stage for every
image. In 2008 I began to ponder a way to creatively "mark" my giclees
to
eliminate fake duplicates and preserve the value of genuine
work, what came from this was the idea to create a unique
hand-carved
relief for embossing my giclees. This has turned out to be a
deliciously creative and lovely
solution, it's "art-on-art."
Giclee
reproductions vary in price depending on the popularity of the artist
and the image. Size also plays a part because producing
giclees is an expensive, skilled,
creative technical process. If a particular Limited Edition
giclee is popular the
price will increase as
the edition
sells out since there are less available for purchase. This is the
marketplace at work.
"Is
a giclee the same as a print?"
I hear this question sometimes from visitors, at shows and
there's discussed on the web and other publications. Here's
my opinion which is exactly that, my opinion.
Some folks compare fine art giclees with hand-pulled
prints. A giclee is not a hand-pulled print and shouldn't be
represented as the same artform; however a giclee is a
legitimate newcomer to our creative art spaces and
a welcome addition for collectors, museums and
artists alike. Artmaking has always been responsive over the
centuries to changes in
materials and methods, we're not restricted to ochre and
charcoal, hence there are masterpieces created using acrylic
and oil paints and photography. Many
famous international Art Museums across the globe exhibit
glicee reproductions among their collections. While a hand-pulled print
is an
exquisite and irreplaceable artform, giclees do not need to compete
with them since they are a new and beautiful
contemporary artform in their own
right. I
encourage
art buyers this way, with all your art purchases know what you
are buying, learn about the artist and the
gallery, take your time but follow your heart as well as your
head-a image you truly love can inspire and nurture you every
day and you'll find that over time it will return your investment again
and again - and trust that it won't matter whether it matches the couch.
